A Meeting
The entire Mandala story began with a meeting: two passionate individuals from different cultures, united by a shared vision of cooking and connection. Othman, a trained chef from Beni Mellal who worked in Barcelona for eight years, and Birta, an Icelander with a background in film and music. United by common values and a deep appreciation for connection, their paths first crossed in the deep cold of Iceland, and from that moment, they would never part. Reunited in Morocco, their journey and experiences strengthened their bond. Thus, the Mandala Family was born in Essaouira before expanding to Marrakech, creating a lasting foundation for their growing family—four energetic girls in just 2.5 years!
This blend of influences sparked their desire to create a place where cuisine is experienced with sincerity and simplicity. Guided by strong values—respect for quality products, a fair approach, and responsible cooking—they envisioned a space that reflects and celebrates their individual personalities and joint dreams.
More than just a restaurant, Mandala is the embodiment of this encounter: a vibrant cuisine inspired by local produce and travel, rooted in a respectful artisanal approach and accessible to all, offering a friendly environment.

We set out to create a space you would like to live in and call home. Wood accents bring a sense of warmth and simplicity, while shelves filled with books, scattered plants, and soft lighting create a soothing, inviting atmosphere. The furniture blends large wooden tables - perfect for sharing a meal - with wide sofas and plush velvet armchairs, offering a cozy spot to settle in, relax, and fully enjoy the moment.
